Fujairah
Discovering the Hidden Gems of UAE's East Coast

Where Mountains Meet the Sea

Fujairah is the only Emirate located entirely on the eastern coast of the United Arab Emirates, along the Gulf of Oman; it’s the Emirates’ only access to the Indian Ocean. Fujairah’s coastline stretches along the Gulf of Oman for approximately 70 km, from the city of Fujairah in the south to the town of Dibba in the far north. This state shares its borders with the Emirates of Ajman (enclave of Manama), Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah. To the north, its border is international with the Sultanate of Oman.

While Fujairah’s economy is focused on fishing and agriculture, there is also a local industry based on cement production, stone crushing and mining. Additionally, the Emirate of Fujairah receives subsidies from the federal government in Abu Dhabi.

Fujairah is distinguished by its rugged mountains (Hajjar Mountains), valleys, waterfalls, oases and wide sandy beaches. There are several hot, cold and mineral springs. Due to its eastern location, its climate is more moderate than that of Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Weekend visitors looking to escape the heat are drawn to Fujairah’s relaxed and peaceful atmosphere.

The waterfalls of Wadi Al Wurayah, the gardens of Ain Al Madhab, as well as Snoopy Island are major tourist attractions. The same goes for the historic Al Bidya Mosque and Heritage Village.
